Muttville: Butters

Butters! Her name is Butters. You're already on board, aren't you? Well, she does not disappoint. A lot of times, when you walk in as a volunteer you're meeting new dogs. Sometimes, they don't have a nametag and that makes it a little harder to match up the dog to the description on the big whiteboard. But when I saw this dog, I thought: IT MUST BE BUTTERS. Soft, fluffy and the cutest shade of white/yellow.

She's super duper sweet. She came up to me on the couch and soft of nudged into me until I rubbed her belly. She was on her way to an adoption event on a rainy day, so we put her in a vest:

SQUEE!

Obama emails

I stopped receiving emails from President Obama because 1) they were non-stop and 2) they gave me a heart attack every time. I hated getting emails with subject lines like 'I thought you should know' or 'This is worth reading.' Who are you?

I guess I'm not the only person who feels that way, as evident by this fun quiz: Obama Campaign Email Subject or Message from my Aunt? I got 74% correct :)

New room

I moved rooms in my apartment and it's changed my life. I had a whole plan to take pictures and compare/contrast, but all you really need to know is that the room is bigger, has direct sunlight and a killer street view. I sort of feel like Carrie Bradshaw writing at her desk and people watching. So much better than the air shaft.

In the last five minutes, I've seen an adorable gay couple (seriously, I wanted to call after them to take me shopping), a man tourist running away from a woman tourist (hmm) and a guy drop a surfboard on his foot. A new room with entertainment!

The only downside was the day I left my plant Oprah (that's right) in the window and half her leaves got burned. My housemates wondered about the noise level - the street's definitely loud, but it's sort of a white noise. Plus, I actually love hearing the cable car roll by.

The F word poster

I found this at goodfuckingdesignadvice.com, which is a great site for designers, but it's really good life advice as well. If this poster didn't say fuck every other word I'd buy it:

POP UP VIDEO

Do you remember that show Pop up video from VH1?! Holy moly, they're bringing it back! I had no idea, but this just made my week. I spent hours watching this show (don't judge) and learning random facts. Even when MTV had Making the Video, I always preferred the randomness of Pop up video.

I couldn't find any good examples on youtube, but here's a link to a classic. Never let an opportunity to mention Mariah Carey pass you by, I always say.

And cows like brass

I just want you to know, I don't go out of my way to find these music for animals videos. I really don't.

The world is where we live

Beautiful video by the WWF:

Had to watch a couple times to catch all the action on the left and right.

Target: A Bullseye View

YES! Target (mecca, heaven, paradise) has launched a website "Meant to give Target loyalists a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s partnerships and events." How did they know I was yearning for such a thing? The site just launched, so it's a little light on content at the moment. I did get to learn a little more about Bullseye though:

His fourth favorite thing is to work.

In other news, only 12 months until Target comes to SF!

Mariachi

True story, once in grad school I had to call the cops on my neighbors. Keep in mind this is Davis at 3:00 in the morning:

Me: Hi, I'd like to make a noise complaint. I live at...etc, etc.
Davis Police: OK, what does the noise sound like?
Me: Mariachi music.
DP: ... excuse me?
Me: Mariachi music. They're playing the happy birthday song right now.
DP: Mariachi?
Me: Mariachi.

My neighbors had invited the local mariachi band to play in their apartment after the bar closed. Crazy. Mariachi doesn't do it for me. But you know who likes mariachi? Belugas:

So that's good. Remind me to tell you about my whale phobia someday.

Queen

The other day, Google celebrated Freddie Mercury's birthday with a google doodle. It was SO GREAT. Little known Christine fact: I love Queen. And here's my favorite:

The color of...

Pretty cool! This website aggregates photos that match your search to show you a composite, color identity of that search. Here are a few I did:

MOVE

This makes me want to take another trip, and soon!

"3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage..."

Muttville: Quincy

New month, new attitude. That's all I'm going to say about that.

Some of you have been wondering whether I still go to Muttville, and I'm happy to say yes! Kelly and Al are still around, but with summer haircuts. This is Quincy:

Quincy reminds me of Peg from Lady and the Tramp. He's sort of frowny here, but super sweet and a great walker. After I took this picture, I brushed him and he looked like a blond afro wig.

More Muttville pics to come, I promise.
