Muttville: Cider

Cider is very independent...and by independent, I mean all he needs is his heating pad. Seriously, it's like he's going you a favor by letting you pet him. Who does he remind me of?

Muttville: Millie

Millie is wearing a soft cone as she recovers from minor surgery, but that didn't stop her from going for a walk in the rain anyways. What a trooper! 

Muttville: Scooter

Scooter is just the perfect name for a dog that's blind and mostly deaf. He does get around really well though. On walks you can just sort of steer him. In the house, I've seen him get up and down stairs on his own. Since he doesn't really know when he's being approached, he'll go from normal to super excited the second you start petting him.

Yes, he does feel like chenille. He also sleeps like this:

Muttville: Ethel

Ethel! When I first met Ethel, she was recovering from surgery. You can see the fur is still growing back around her neck. As she's recovered, she's gotten stronger and even more loveable. Unfortunately, she can't go on walks yet (to quote the doggie board: Ethel, labrador, no walks, just love) but that doesn't stop her from giving you the "walk me" eyes. Oh, she knows what she's doing.

I don't know if it's her size or her leadership qualities, but the other doggies love Ethel. She is the queen of this hive:

Muttville: Roscoe

Roscoe is just the sweetest guy ever. He loves walks and even let me take him out in the rain. There are much better pictures of him on the Muttville website.

Roscoe has distinctive feet, note how they turn out like a ballerina. When he lays down, he crosses both his hind legs and front legs. I wish I could have snapped a picture of it!

Muttville: Maya

Last week, I met Maya:

The shelter has a backyard and Maya was taking full advantage of the beautiful weather.

Muttville: Kelly

Poor Kelly. I don't know her story yet, but the way she acts around humans and dogs tells me she's one sad doggie. Except for one buddy, Al, she's afraid of everything and will not let you approach her. She wouldn't even take a treat after I put it down in front of her and walked away.

I'm pretty sure she's 20% dog, 40% sheep, and 40% cloud. After sitting still for a long while, I was able to slowly kneel-walk over and she let me pet her. She didn't growl and I think she liked it, but she needs a home where she can get lots of patient attention and love.

Muttville: Dewey

Dewey is a crotchety old dog who likes to sleep in a basket that's too small for him. So this happens:

Muttville: Lucky

Lucky was dropped off today from another shelter. Sometimes, other shelters will do that with older dogs that are so great they can't bring themselves to put them down. He's a big ball of fluff and energy! It took forever to find a harness because I couldn't figure out how much was hair and where his body actually is. Don't let this serene picture fool you:
